Two SDI Capture Channels in M.2 Form Factor
The Magewell Eco Capture Dual SDI M.2 captures two independent SDI channels simultaneously via an M.2 slot on the motherboard. Each channel supports SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI up to 1080p60, and each is processed by dedicated FPGA hardware. At £276, it is the dual SDI option in Magewell's M.2 capture range: professional SDI ingest in compact and PCIe-constrained systems where a standard PCIe SDI capture card cannot physically fit.
SDI Capture Without a PCIe Slot
Fitting an SDI capture card into a compact server, a small rack unit, or an embedded system has traditionally meant occupying a PCIe slot and accommodating the physical dimensions of a PCIe card. Compact rack servers with small form factor motherboards often have fewer PCIe slots than their larger counterparts, and some embedded systems have none at all. The Eco Capture Dual SDI M.2 installs into an M.2 slot: the same connector used for NVMe SSDs. The physical card is the size of an NVMe SSD drive. Installation requires no bracket, no slot cover: insert at an angle, press flat, secure with a single retaining screw. The entire card sits flat on the motherboard.
What It Captures
Both channels support SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI independently and simultaneously. The channels operate from separate sources without sharing any processing resources. FPGA processing on the card handles signal conversion, deinterlacing, and scaling per channel. Both channels present as independent capture devices to the host operating system and production software.

For two channels, the Dual SDI M.2 at £276 is the efficient choice. The Eco Capture SDI 4K Plus M.2 (£570) provides a single SDI channel with 12G-SDI support and 4K capture. If 4K SDI capture is required rather than dual HD SDI, the SDI 4K Plus M.2 is the appropriate step up.
