The Magewell Ultra Encode HDMI Plus is the enhanced version of the standard Ultra Encode HDMI, adding SRT with AES encryption and richer NDI output capabilities to the same standalone appliance. At £440, it sits £71 above the standard model and is the right choice when security, reliability over public internet connections, or deep integration into NDI production workflows are requirements rather than optional extras.
Like the standard Ultra Encode HDMI, the Plus captures HDMI video at up to 1080p60 and encodes it in H.264 or H.265 for delivery over IP. The expanded protocol support adds SRT with AES encryption for secure streaming over untrusted or public internet connections, full NDI output for integration with NewTek and other NDI-compatible systems, and an expanded range of streaming targets and configurations not available on the standard model. The device is fully standalone, managed through a web interface, with no host PC required.
The standard Ultra Encode HDMI handles most fixed-installation streaming requirements confidently. The Plus version is worth the additional cost when any of the following apply:
If you are streaming to a known CDN, platform, or internal server over a managed network connection and do not need encryption, the standard Ultra Encode HDMI at £369 covers the requirement. If SRT encryption, deeper NDI integration, or expanded protocol flexibility are on your specification, the Plus at £440 is the right call. The £71 difference is well justified for any deployment where the standard model would require workarounds or fall short. The SDI equivalent, the Ultra Encode SDI Plus, is available at the same £440 price point for broadcast SDI source environments.
