The Modator Chassis 2U is the physical foundation of Magewell's modular conversion and encoding system. It is a 2U rack unit that houses up to eight Magewell Pro Convert or Ultra Encode modules, sharing a single power supply, cooling system, and network management infrastructure across all installed modules. Understanding the Modator System

Magewell's Pro Convert and Ultra Encode products come in two physical forms: standalone devices (self-contained boxes that operate independently) and module variants designed specifically for the Modator chassis. The modules are functionally identical to their standalone counterparts. The difference is entirely in form factor and the shared infrastructure the chassis provides.

The Modator Chassis 2U provides:

You can mix module types in a single chassis to build a custom configuration. A facility might install four NDI-to-HDMI modules, two 4K Plus modules, and two encoding modules in the same chassis, all sharing power and management, all in 2U of rack space.

The chassis is sold separately from the modules. You specify the chassis once and populate it with whatever combination of modules your project requires, with the option to add further modules as requirements change.
