Magewell Pro Convert HDMI Plus Module: HD NDI to HDMI Conversion for Modator Chassis
The Pro Convert HDMI Plus Module is the HD-tier NDI-to-HDMI conversion module for the Magewell Modator Chassis 2U. It receives NDI video streams up to 1080p from the network and outputs them as HDMI video, slotting into the same chassis as all other Modator modules. At £434 per module, it is the most cost-accessible conversion option in the Magewell Modator range for HD workflows and the right choice for the majority of monitoring and display positions in most facilities.
What This Module Does
Installed in a Modator Chassis 2U, the HDMI Plus module joins the network and can be configured to receive any NDI source visible on that network. It decodes the NDI stream and outputs HD HDMI video in real time. The HDMI output connects to monitors, displays, switchers, or any other HDMI-capable device at that rack position.
This module is functionally equivalent to the standalone Pro Convert HDMI Plus but housed in the module format that allows up to eight units per 2U chassis, sharing power, cooling, and network management across all installed channels.
When HD Is the Right Specification
Not every display in a facility requires 4K resolution. Confidence monitors, tally displays, director screens, secondary programme monitors, green room screens, and the majority of IMAG applications operate correctly at 1080p HD. Deploying 4K modules at these positions adds cost without delivering meaningful benefit to the people using those screens.
The HDMI Plus module is the practical and cost-appropriate choice for the majority of conversion channels in most broadcast, live production, and AV installations. Reserve the 4K Plus module for positions where resolution genuinely matters: main programme displays, large format screens, and critical viewing positions.
Cost Efficiency in Multi-Channel Deployments
At £434 versus £771 for the 4K Plus module, the HDMI Plus module saves £337 per channel for HD applications.
